Cooking Quinoa…
This is such a fab plant protein… my boys LOVE IT… I’m SO HAPPY… I haven’t told them just how good it is for them yet 😝 Properly pronounced like Keen-Waa!!
Rule is 1 part Quinoa and 2 parts Water…
Since I am making the whole bag which is 2 cups of Quinoa… I’ll need 4 cups of cold Water!!
Bring the Water up to the boil in a heavy bottomed pan…
Then stir the ancient AZTEC Grains into the bubbling Water!!
Put a tea towel (doubled in two) over the pot…
Then clamp the lid on…
Then gather the corners of the towel up to get them AWAY from any open flames… DO THIS QUICKLY 😱🔥
I find this REALLY helps get a fluffier quinoa… I do the same with rice!!
The cloth absorbs the steam you see!!
The pack says 15 minutes, but I find in my pan it takes 20 at which point the little grains have sprouted!!!
If you don’t see that tiny white thread, then it’s NOT DONE!!
All the Water should be GONE…
And the Quinoa HASN’T STUCK!!
ALLOW TO COOL….
