This book I keep by my bedside… I’ve always ALWAYS written down my
thoughts… feelings… and stories in diary form… not necessarily KEPT them!!
But certainly writing has helped me process the situations I’ve found myself in throughout my life!!
So, reading a cooking diary like Nigel’s… a book written through a year in his life at home rather than in his restaurants… is very appealing to me!!
It’s seasonal, of course… how could it not be… and the wonderful styling and descriptions of his little garden… the fruit trees… the vegetables he grows and tends… the herbs and organic food boxes he orders and has to find creative ways to use up… all of it is so very interesting!!

I LOVE the movie made about his early life “TOAST”… and the fact that he appears in a cameo at the end suggesting it was a pretty accurate portrait of his childhood… although somewhat dramatized, I’m sure, by 1st rate actors such as Helena Bonham Cater and Freddie Highmore!!
