The meat part of the dish came out of the oven after 30 minutes…
And looked like THIS… more or less cooked and going a little crispy on top…
I add a few ingredients to liven it up a bit at this stage…
Parsley because it’s GOOD for us…
NO… π I just happened to have some!!! π
What I don’t use, I Ziplock and stash in the freezer for STOCK π
To get really finely chopped Parsley or any soft herb…
Put pressure on the top of the knife and rock the blade using the handle across the pile backwards and forwards!!
Add the herbs…
Add HP sauce (AKA BROWN SAUCE)…
Get it here…HP Brown Sauce England, 9-Ounce Bottles (Pack of 4)…
I use my Amazon Prime FREE shipping like crazy!!
I grew up on this… it has a wonderful slightly fruity, spicy flavor π
Might be an acquired taste!!!
Last night I had a tiny amount of Beef Gravy left… so IN IT GOES Β π
Mix all this together… and back it goes into the oven at 400 for 20 minutes!!
When it comes out again, aΒ couple more things go in before it gets its topping!!
THE BEANS… well, Cottage Pie recipes are very family specific… in other words, people tend to make them as their mother made them and their grandmother before that!!
I NEVER HAD BEANS IN MY COTTAGE PIE… BUT… my Hubby DID… and since I had some and I’m GOING OUT π
They’re going IN!!
Give it all good stir and top with the Mash…
SOMETIMES–especially when I’m making this dish from leftovers–I find it can get a bit oily around the edges… so I just blot it off with kitchen a paper towel…
Dress with the remaining Cheese…
And add a bit of colour with a fresh Tomato π
Bake it off at 350 degrees for 30 minutes and then plate it up!!
Of course I added PEAS!!
THERE… dinner’s DONE … (that is, ready for the boys to cook this evening anyway)
Time to WORK ON ME π±π±π±
