Preheat the oven to 325…
So, to continue… the browned Butter… Sugar… Cocoa powder expresso… and Salt are all in the saucepan…
It’s important to use a good pan that will retain some heat after it’s off the heat, but it needs to be cool enough for the Eggs so they don’t cook when added!!
Err on the side of caution!!
2 Eggs… add one at a time and beat in vigorously…
The texture will change now and become much thicker…
Add 1 1/2 teaspoons of Vanilla extract…
Stir that in, thenย add 1/4 teaspoon of Baking Powder to the Flour…
I LOOOVE this Flour… whole wheat, organic and very light!!
I found out just how light when I made bread!!
2/3 of a cup of Flour not forgetting the Baking Powder, too!!
Again GET YOUR Parental Anguish out of your system by beating this mixture instead of the kids ๐
When it’s well combined and you can’t see any more Flour streaks…
Throw in the 2nd batch of Chocolate…
I use 66% Baking Wafers… looks like Chocolate buttons to me!!
1/3 of a cup give or take!!
But they melt into the remaining warmth of the ingredients which I am VERY HAPPY about!!
Time to spoon into my waiting buttered pan…
I clean up the pan a little… and pop them in the lower 1/3 of the oven… preheated at 325…
After 25 minutes… Iย stick a toothpick into one… and it comes out clean…
So, my little individual squares of Chocolatey Deliciousness are DONE!!
OUT they come… and I allow them to cool in the tin…
Then not able to wait ANY LONGER, I HAVE TO KNOW IF they will come out of the pan without being STUCK…
I lever them gently with a toothpick poked into one corner…
OMG I am SOOO RELIEVED… they slide out without any resistance ๐๐๐๐๐
Once they are REALLY COLD… and the bottoms have a chance to dry on a wire rack, I package them up INDIVIDUALLY and label each one for the sale using the school COLOURS blue and orange!!
Maxi is happy ๐๐๐ผ
AND I feel good about fulfilling my motherly obligations in a chocolatey WHOLE WHEAT ย way…
Seriously, NO ONE ever guessed ๐
